Itinerary

The Classic 4-day Inca Trail is a challenging yet incredibly rewarding journey, with designated campsites each night:

• Day 1: Cusco - Km 82 - Wayllabamba (approx. 12 km hike)
  • Very early hotel pick-up and bus transfer to Piscacucho (Km 82), the starting point of the Inca Trail.
  • Registration and start of the hike, passing by sites like Llactapata.
  • Lunch en route and continuation to our first campsite in Wayllabamba (3,000 m.a.s.l.).
• Day 2: Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo (approx. 11 km hike)
  • The most challenging day, with a gradual ascent to Warmiwañusca Pass (Dead Woman's Pass, 4,215 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the Inca Trail.
  • Spectacular views from the pass, followed by a descent to the campsite in Pacaymayo (3,600 m.a.s.l.).
• Day 3: Pacaymayo - Runkurakay - Sayacmarca - Phuyupatamarca - Wiñaywayna (approx. 16 km hike)
  • Day of descent and exploration of several Inca archaeological sites: Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Conchamarc, Phuyupatamarca (town in the clouds).
  • The route passes through a lush cloud forest.
  • Last campsite in Wiñaywayna (2,680 m.a.s.l.), near the impressive eponymous ruin.
• Day 4: Wiñaywayna - Intipunku - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes - Cusco (approx. 6 km hike + Machu Picchu tour)
  • Very early wake-up and hike to Intipunku (Sun Gate), for the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu at sunrise.
  • Descent to Machu Picchu for a 2 to 2.5-hour guided tour.
  • Free time in the citadel.
  • Bus descent to Aguas Calientes, time for lunch (not included).
  • Return train to Ollantaytambo or Poroy, and bus transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

Includes:

• Hotel pick-up from your hotel in Cusco.
• Ground transportation to Km 82 (one way) and from the train station to Cusco (round trip).
• Return train ticket (Expedition or Voyager from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo/Poroy).
• Round-trip bus ticket from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu (Day 4).
• Inca Trail permits and Machu Picchu entrance fee.
• Professional bilingual guide (Spanish/English) and assistant guide (for large groups).
• Porters to carry camping equipment and food.
• Camping equipment: double tents, dining tent, kitchen tent, sleeping mats.
• Cooking equipment and chef: all meals during the trek (3 breakfasts, 3 lunches, 3 dinners) with vegetarian/vegan options.
• First aid kit and oxygen.

Does not Include:

• Breakfast on Day 1 and lunch/dinner on Day 4 in Aguas Calientes/Cusco.
• Sleeping bag (can be rented).
• Trekking poles (can be rented).
• Additional porter to carry your personal belongings (optional, extra cost).
• Tips for guides, porters, and kitchen staff.
• Personal expenses and souvenirs.
• Entrance fees to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (if you wish to add them, they must be booked months in advance and incur an additional cost).
• Travel insurance.

Recommendations (What to bring?):

• Original passport (the same one used for booking) and ISIC student card (if applicable).
• Trekking backpack (40-60 liters) for your personal belongings.
• Sleeping bag (temperature rating -5°C to -10°C).
• Sturdy and waterproof trekking shoes (already broken in).
• Layered clothing: quick-drying shirts, trekking pants, warm jackets, windbreaker, rain jacket/poncho.
• Sun hat, wool hat, gloves.
• Trekking socks.
• Water (reusable water bottle or Camelbak recommended) and water purification tablets.
• Energy snacks (cereal bars, dried fruit, chocolate).
• Sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent.
• Headlamp with extra batteries.
• Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, paste, toilet paper, small towel).
• Cash (Peruvian soles) for additional expenses and tips.
• Sandals or comfortable shoes for the campsite.
• Trekking poles with rubber tips (to protect the trail).
